As golden maple leaves heralded the fruitful autumn season, the long-awaited "17th National Youth Academic Conference on Refractory Materials" was grandly opened on October 13, 2020, at the Huayang Plaza International Hotel in Luoyang, Henan Province. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Society for Metals, Henan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and Luoyang Municipal People's Government; and organized by the Refractory Materials Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, Sinosteel Luoyang Institute of Refractories, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractories, Refractories Magazine, and Luoyang Municipal Association for Science and Technology. Over 500 representatives from the industry gathered together to engage in extensive exchanges and discussions on the functionalization and green development of China's refractory materials over the past two years, sharing the bountiful harvest of refractory achievements and envisioning a bright future for the industry.

Professor Zhang Jinhua from Wuhan University of Science and Technology was invited to deliver an excellent presentation titled "Some Thoughts on the Preparation and Application of Defective Spinel Micropowder." The 90MA defective spinel micropowder is a new product under Smile's sub-brand "Jingnai," developed within the framework of the "Smile Science & Technology · WUST Joint Research Institute."
