2023 "Smile Innovation Award" Presented
On December 26, Chairman Liu Xuexin led a delegation from Smile Co., Ltd. to attend the presentation ceremony of the "2023 Smile Innovation Award" at Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST). The ceremony was grandly held at the School of Materials Science and Engineering of WUST. Chairman Liu Xuexin, Dean Gu Huazhi, Party Secretary Liu Xiaoyun, and other leaders from the School of Materials Science and Engineering reviewed the collaborative work between the university and the enterprise over the past few years in industry-university-research cooperation, the implementation effectiveness of scholarships, and joint talent cultivation. They also reached new consensus on strengthening university-enterprise cooperation, joint talent cultivation, and long-term cooperation for the "Smile Innovation Award."
Liu Xiaoyun, Party Secretary of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, delivered the award speech on behalf of the university, stating that "Smile Co., Ltd.'s establishment of the scholarship not only reflects the alumnus's affection for his alma mater and care for younger students, but also demonstrates the company's emphasis on university-enterprise cooperation and talent cultivation, as well as its high sense of social responsibility, which is truly admirable." Chairman Liu Xuexin delivered a speech on behalf of the company, expressing gratitude to his alma mater for its long-term support, and announced that the "Smile Innovation Award" scholarship will be awarded on a long-term basis with an expanded scope of awards. Han Bingqiang, Director of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, announced the list of award-winning students for this year and invited Chairman Liu Xuexin to present awards to the winning students.
After the award ceremony, the School of Materials Science and Engineering also organized a symposium, inviting more than 40 junior, senior, and graduate students to have face-to-face exchanges with the Smile Co., Ltd. delegation. They shared information on career development, company recruitment, and talent cultivation. The students gained a good understanding of Smile Co., Ltd.'s development history and corporate culture, and some graduating students submitted their resumes for employment applications.
The "Smile Innovation Award" was established in 2018 on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and is open to undergraduate students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The scholarship has been awarded for four consecutive terms, with 18 recipients each term receiving first, second, and third prizes.
