From May 13 to 15, 2024, the "19th National Youth Academic Conference on Refractory Materials" was held at Wanda Realm Ma'anshan Hotel in Ma'anshan, Anhui. This conference was hosted by the Refractory Materials Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals, Sinosteel Luoyang Refractory Co., Ltd., Ma'anshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Sinosteel Luoyang Refractory Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., State Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractory Materials, and Refractories Magazine. Over 400 representatives from more than 400 units including research institutes, universities, and production enterprises in the refractory materials industry and its upstream and downstream sectors gathered together to discuss innovation and sustainable development in the high-temperature industry and refractory materials sector under the dual-carbon background, new achievements in R&D of refractory raw materials, and new progress in production equipment and testing equipment for refractory materials.
Concurrently with the conference, the "Refractory Raw Materials, Products, and Equipment Exhibition" was held, with over 40 enterprises participating and displaying a wide range of products. During the conference, delegates engaged in face-to-face communication with exhibiting enterprises, expressing that the concurrent exhibition provided them with an opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of suppliers and helped strengthen deep cooperation between refractory raw material, testing equipment, construction equipment, and product enterprises and high-temperature industry customers.
As a member unit of the Refractory Materials Branch of the Chinese Society for Metals and one of the sponsors of this conference, Smile Co., Ltd. participated in the event. Meanwhile, Professor Zhang Jinhua from Wuhan University of Science and Technology delivered a report titled "Development and Application Research of Microporous Corundum-Spinel Materials," providing a detailed introduction to the newly incubated product from the joint research institute of our company and Wuhan University of Science and Technology—microporous corundum-spinel materials. The main mechanism is: in the microporous inner wall region of the corundum matrix, in-situ synthesis of alumina-rich spinel microcrystals with gradient composition characteristics is conducted. By strengthening the microporous structure of the material, the thermal insulation performance is improved while optimizing the material's resistance to slag erosion and penetration, providing a new type of high-quality raw material for the refractory materials industry.
